Experiencing adversity while aiming to thrive within the non-diverse tech industry is a story told far too often for us to accept. The limiting pre-judgements automatically thrown on someone simply because of how they look or what they personally identify as are entirely arbitrary restrictions that should never stop anyone from being taken as seriously as their peers, and especially not define their course to success. Understanding the potential of taking the reigns to empower yourself despite these restrictions can help carve untapped possibilities for this generation of dreamers. This talk will cover fundamental techniques and tangible strategies on how to rid of and rise above the limits being placed on you as told by a young, black, female executive in tech continuing to push bounds. Jacquelle Amankonah is a Global Program Manager for YouTube at Google, running the operations, programs, and partnerships across Product, Engineering, and User Experience to build one of YouTube’s core business focuses of the year. Outside of this current scope, Jacquelle has worked for 8 years in the entertainment technology space driving product management and business development at brand new startup ventures and established corporations dealing with billion+ scale. She still holds an avid and thriving entrepreneurial spirit, believing the best ideas are born from unprecedented drive backed by unique innovation and strategy. Receiving her Master's degree in Law and Philosophy from USC at just 20 years old, Jacquelle has always unapologetically reached for nothing less but achieving boundless wins throughout her education and career. She was recognized for being one of the Top 100 Young Entrepreneurs, is a heralded and frequent speaker both within Google and externally, and is a congratulated leader within the tech industry. A proud aunt of two nieces, Jacquelle is a native of California and currently lives in the technology capital of the world, Silicon Valley.
