How To Fail Junior Developers

Junior developers, especially those who are self-taught, can struggle to find their place in the tech industry, but it is valuable to encourage them to continue to contribute. Implicit expectations, unavailable or incomprehensible documentation, companies that rarely invest in mentorship, and other hurdles all contribute to junior developers feeling anxious about performance. Enough of these hurdles can even convince a hopeful new developer to give up on the industry entirely. This talk will focus on common hurdles that arise in companies and open source projects and what you can do to alleviate them.
