But You Don't Look Sick: Navigating the Workplace With an Invisible Disability

It is currently estimated that 1 out of 10 people in the United States is living with an "invisible" disability - i.e., a difficulty that is not immediately apparent to others. These difficulties present a unique set of challenges in the workplace: Accommodating a non-observable symptom or disability often requires some level of a vocal disclosure on behalf of the person with a disability, and these accommodations can often be unconventional. Additionally, resources for how to legally and financially manage a disability through your employer are often difficult to find and at times, incomplete. This talk will help demystify the legal, financial, and social management of invisible disability at work.
